Department:Air Freight / IATA DivisionReports To:Air Freight Manager / Head of OperationsJob Summary:TheAir FreightPricing Operations Officeris responsible for managing all activities relatedtoair freightpricing, quotations, carrier negotiations, and operations executionfor import and export shipments. This roleensurescompetitive pricing,operational accuracy, compliance with IATA and customsregulations,and superior customer service.The position demands strong coordination withairlines, GSA/CSA partners, overseas agents, and internal sales teamsto deliver cost- efficient and reliable air freight solutions across global routes.Key Responsibilities:Pricing Rate ManagementNegotiate air freightrates and space allocations withairlines, GSAs (General Sales Agents), and consolidators.Prepare competitive quotations for customers, sales,and overseas partners within agreed timelines.Analyze market trends, fuel surcharges, seasonal capacity, and carrier promotions to maintain competitiveness.Maintain and updatetheair freight rate databaseand tariff structures for all trade lanes.Review profitability of air freightlanes and recommendadjustments to management.Operations ManagementCoordinate and manageair export and import operationsfrom booking to final delivery.Liaise with airlines, ground handling agents,customs brokers, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth cargo flow.Verify and prepare all documentation includingAir Waybill (AWB), invoices, packing lists, and manifest reports.Monitor shipments to ensureon-time uplift, tracking, and deliverywhile maintaining proactive communication with clients.Handle consolidation and deconsolidation operations for scheduled and ad-hoc shipments.Documentation ComplianceEnsure all air freight transactions comply withIATA, customs, and civil aviation regulations.Coordinate with theIATA Cargo Accounts Settlement Systems (CASS)for financial and billing accuracy.Verify export/import documentation and coordinate with customers to meet destination country requirements.Maintain proper filing and record-keeping of all air freight shipments for audit and compliance purposes.Customer Agent CoordinationWork closely with thesales teamto supportclient inquiries, rate requests, and bid/tender submissions.Liaise withoverseas partners and global agentsfor routing, pricing, and shipment execution.Provide customers with proactive shipmentstatus updates and resolve operational or documentation issues promptly.Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients through professional communication and reliability.Financial Performance ManagementMonitor freight costs,profitability, and billingaccuracy for each shipment.Ensure timely invoicing, cost posting, and vendor bill verification.Support the financedepartment in resolvingrate discrepancies and credit control.Provide management reports onvolume, yield, and cost performance.Qualifications Experience:Bachelors degree inLogistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Aviation Studies.Minimum 35 years of experience in Air FreightOperations and Pricing within an IATA-licensed freight forwarding company.Strong understanding ofairline cargo procedures, consolidation, and international trade regulations.Hands-on experience withIATA documentation, Cargo-IMP codes, and CASS procedures.Familiarity withfreight management systems (e.g., CargoWise, GLS, or similar)and MS Office tools.Skills Competencies:Excellent negotiation and analytical skills for rate management.Strong operational and documentation knowledge of air cargo handling.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.Effective communication and coordination skills with clients and agents.Attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving ability.Knowledge of Incoterms, HS Codes, and customs procedures.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Rate competitiveness and profit marginper shipment.Accuracy and turnaround time of quotations.On-time cargo upliftand delivery performance.Reduction in operational errors and documentation discrepancies.Customer satisfaction and retention rate.Work Environment:Office-based role with frequent coordination withairlines, GSAs, airport authorities, and customs brokers.
